Lansing-Area Boys Basketball Top 10 Poll (As of January 29th)
There is some shuffling in this week's poll. Nine of the ten teams that were in the poll last week are in the poll this week. But they are in different positions due to results from last week.
We are now down to one unbeaten team in the Lansing area. And it's CMAC leader Laingsburg. They are 13-0 overall and 10-0 in the CMAC. This after three big wins last week. Including a 55-44 victory over perennial CMAC contender Pewamo-Westphalia on Tuesday.
Because they are the last unbeaten team in the area, combined with losses by East Lansing and Okemos (who lost to East Lansing) last week, Laingsburg is rated number 1 in the poll.
It's not really a question of "Who's the best team in the area?" That's still East Lansing despite Saturday's surprising loss to Warren Lincoln. Laingsburg probably wouldn't beat either EL or Okemos. Or probably Mason or Waverly. But this is simply a reward for being undefeated. And the Wolfpack have won 41 of their last 43 games, dating back to the end of the 2021-22 season. So there is a reason to rank them this high.
We will be broadcasting the Okemos at Everett game this Friday night from Earvin Johnson Gymnasium. Broadcast time is 7:00pm with Brock Palmbos and Erik "Doc" Love.
And Brock Palmbos will recap everything that happened during the week this coming Saturday with High School Rewind. Which airs every Saturday during the basketball season from 10am-11am.
