Tonight will be a huge night for me and my family. It’s something I’ve been waiting for for over a year because of the Pandemic. Tonight is the Greater Lansing Sports Hall of Fame Banquet at the Lansing Center.

I was elected to the Hall last year, but due to COVID, the banquet and ceremony were rescheduled until tonight. It will be a  special night for the individuals elected as I am. There are teams that have also been elected. The Banquet will be held at the Lansing Center as it is.

It gets going from around 4:30 until around 9 PM. I have many family members and friends attending tonight. This means more to me than they will ever know.

I’ve been doing sports radio in this area for over 25 years. This is such a surreal situation and event I can’t put it into words.

What is very special is that another man going in tonight is a close friend named Perry Costello. Perry and I have known each other since eighth grade. We also played high school baseball together at Lansing Catholic High School in 1976 and '77. Perry is going in for being such an outstanding amateur umpire. He really should have been an MLB umpire, but that’s another story. So this makes it even more of a special night going into the Greater Lansing Sports Hall of Fame.

I am just elated and really appreciative that the members elected Perry and me at the same time. It will be a special night to be remembered.
