The million dollar question this year is, will there be a 2020 college football season? Now, many mainstream sports media individuals are hoping, but they don’t know. As I’m doing this post, nobody has a crystal clear picture on this topic.

Let’s look at this from a few angles. Major League Baseball starts this Thursday with a very abbreviated schedule. The NBA is playing an abbreviated schedule on the Disney premises in a presumed bubble in Orlando. The NHL will play in Toronto and Edmonton. All of these professional sports will be without any fans watching in person. This is unlike anything sports has ever seen. Although, over 100 years ago in 1919 when they had the last pandemic, they did pause some MLB games. But this is totally a different situation.

The National Football League is amped and they're ready to roll. But they could get paused too.

Now what about college football? The Ivy League cancelled all of their fall sports. College football is a way of life for this country. It’s in limbo right now. Many people would love to see it, but people could get the coronavirus. Some conferences cancelled non-conference games and will add one conference game.

My feeling is in the middle. If they can pull this off with a lot of testing and stringent scheduling, let’s try it. But, in reality, I would be surprised if there is a college football season at all. I hope I’m wrong! All we can do is wait and see.
