If Nick Saban Wins Tonight, Will He Be the Greatest College Football Coach of All Time?
Tonight is the granddaddy of them all! Even over the Rose Bowl in my opinion; it’s the National Championship Game.
Nick Saban has won 7 National Championships in his great career. He has won one at LSU and six at Alabama. Nick Saban has also coached four Heisman Trophy winners at Alabama: Mark Ingram, Derrick Henry, DeVonta Smith and Bryce Young. He has coached all over the place too with Toledo, Michigan State, Cleveland Browns, LSU, Miami Dolphins and Bama. Of course there have been assistant coach stints too.
All I can say is if he beats the Georgia Bulldogs today, that would be eight championships. Paul “Bear” Bryant who made Alabama a powerhouse won six National Championships in his historic career. Saban has resurrected Bama into the powerhouse that they are known today.
Saban always had reputation as a hard person to be around as a head coach. He probably has mellowed in his older age. In my mind, he is the best head coach in all of college football ever. He has turned the Alabama Crimson Tide into a dynasty.
It’s really unbelievable that Bama is an underdog in the College Football Championship in Indy tonight. Toe to leather is at 8 PM versus the Georgia Bulldogs. Bama crushed them a few weeks ago in the SEC Championship game.
Nick Saban has had a few weeks to prepare for this grand event. As we speak he is probably filing his teeth for another chance to win a National Championship. Is Saban the greatest ever? I think so!
