Check Out Michigan’s Appearances In The Guinness Book of World Records

The Guinness Book of World Records was first published on August 27, 1955 in the Great Britain to celebrate the world's most unique talents and accomplishments. While the book had humble beginnings, it's bigger than ever now with countless records, yearly additions, and even at one point they had a TV show!

I can't be the only person who has dreamed about what record they could break. (The only one I hold anywhere in life is the most crossings of the Kennedy Bridge that crosses the Ohio River from Kentucky to Indiana, but I don't have an official record on that one.)

From longest fingernails to biggest pizza, everything is covered by these world record books. And if it's not already in the book, it's likely on the way. So maybe you and a few of your loved ones could start thinking of one you could break.

While winners come from all over the world and all walks of life, some of them very well could be your neighbors. That's because Michiganders from all over the mitten have Guinness titles to their name.

You may be surprised to find out how many of these people live near you. In fact, many of these record holders are proud of call Michigan their home. So here are some of the biggest and strangest records that have been beaten in the mitten state.
