The 2020 Major League Baseball pandemic season is finally over. The LA Dodgers have been crowned World Champs of MLB. They have been in the World Series three out of the past four years as a bridesmaid, but not this time. They got it done and cut the cake.

Now it wasn’t easy because their opponent the Tampa Rays are a team full of outstanding young ballplayers. But the Los Angeles Dodgers are full of seasoned superstars. They added just a fabulous player in the offseason. His name is Mookie Betts. They picked him up in a trade with the Boston Red Sox. He was the missing piece to the puzzle to win the World Series.

Let’s go over this season. It was like none we have ever seen. The coronavirus pandemic dominated the sports world too. MLB started their spring training in Florida and Arizona, but was halted due to the pandemic. Then, the players union led by former Tiger Tony Clark and the owners couldn’t agree to a salary structure. It really got down to the wire too. But cooler heads prevailed and they began the season with less games, seven inning doubleheaders, and a slew of new tentative rule changes because of the pandemic. It was a wild ride for all of MLB.

But it all worked out and now the Los Angeles Dodgers are the 2020 World Champs. The Dodgers haven’t won a World Series since 1988 when former Spartan Kirk Gibson hit that dramatic home run off Dennis Eckersley.
