Juwan Howard was named the Big 10 Coach of the Year in his first season at head coach in Ann Arbor.

Michigan had a phenomenal season under Howard, winning the regular season Big 10 Championship. Juwan Howard was a huge part in what the Wolverines were able to do this year, and is a strong candidate for the NCAA Coach of the Year award. Howard guided the Wolverines through an extremely trying season with Covid looming over every game. In the end, U of M won the regular season championship, and are poised to be a number 1 seed in the NCAA tourney.

You can't say enough about the job that Howard was able to do in Ann Arbor. The expectations were high considering his history at Michigan. Howard becomes the fourth Michigan Basketball coach to win Big 10 Coach of the Year honors. The last time it happened was with Jon Beilein in 2014. I think this is the story that everyone thought Jim Harbaugh would be living when he came back to coach football.

Howard is not the only member of Michigan Basketball picking up Big 10 awards. Freshmen standout, Hunter Dickinson was named the Big 10 Freshmen of the Year.

Dickinson is a big part of the reason that the Wolverines were able to win in the uber tough Big 10 conference.

There were a handful of other Big 10 award winners from the Wolverines.

The Big 10 awards are nice, and it is always good to get recognition after a big season, but I think the celebrating will have to wait a little bit. Michigan is gearing up for the Big 10 tournament this week, which could feature another matchup with Michigan State on Thursday.

I would be willing to be that each of the award winners would gladly trade their awards for an NCAA Championship. That is the goal for everyone on this Michigan team, and most oddsmakers agree that they are the favorite. Michigan get's the Big 10 tourney started on Thursday at 11:30 on the Big Ten Network.
