Zetterberg Out For World Cup of Hockey
Just a couple of weeks after he was named Captain for his country's team, Henrik Zetterberg has been removed from the Team Sweden roster due to an injury.
General Manager Ken Holland confirmed to media outlets that Zetterberg had suffered a knee injury during off-ice training. He is replaced by Calgary Flames forward Mikael Backlund.
Zetterberg is the second different Red Wing to have to drop out of the World Cup of Hockey, Niklas Kronwall also dropped out for Team Sweden with a knee injury.
Both players stressed the Red Wings being their number one priority. According to reports, Zetterberg is unsure if he'll be ready for the start of camp but will definitely be ready for the season opener. Kronwall is expected to be in camp healthy from the start.
The World Cup of Hockey will still have seven representatives from the Detroit Red Wings across four different teams. The action beings September 17th in Toronto.
