1. Tiger Top White Sox Behind Verlander's Strong Outing

The Detroit Tigers were looking to take the grudge match against the White Sox in an afternoon game at Comerica Park.  Verlander took the mound for the Tigers as he took on Chris Sale.  Verlander shuts down the White Sox as the Tigers won 6-1.  Verlander pitched 8 innings giving up 1 run on 7 hits and 6 strikeouts.  Ian Kinsler, Rajai Davis and JD Martinez lead the Tigers on the offensive side.  Chris Sale went 6 innings giving up 1 run and 4 hits with 10 strikeouts. With this win and a loss by Seattle, the Tigers are playoff bound for the 4th straight year.  The Tigers will look to continue to win the AL Central as they will end the regular season against the Twins.

2. Kansas City Trying To Keep Pace With Tigers

With the Detroit Tigers win, the Royals are looking to keep pace in the AL Central Race as they face the Indians.  Cleveland got off to a fast start leading 3-0 after the first inning but Kansas City fought back as they retook the lead 4-3 in the top of the 5th. But, the Indians took it right back and never looked back winning 6-4. The Royals will play the White Sox as they look for a spot in the playoffs.

3, Dodgers Clinch NL West

Clayton Kershaw took the mound for the Dodgers as they were looking to win the NL West over the Giants.  Kershaw lead the way going 8 innings giving up 1 run on 8 hits with 11 strikeouts as the Dodgers won 9-1.  The Giants will look for a playoff spot as they finish the season against the San Diego Padres.

4. Tony Stewart Will Not Be Charged

About 7 weeks after the incident, Tony Stewart will not be charged in the death of Kevin Ward Jr. Ontario County District Attorney said that Kevin Ward Jr. was under the influence of marijuana, "enough to be impaired", the night of the race.  Stewart could have faced second-degree manslaughter as well as criminal negligent homicide.  Read more about Stewart's comments as well as the investigation here.

5. Winston To Cooperate In Title IX Probe

An attorney associated with Jameis Winston has said that Winston will cooperate with the probe into a 2012 rape allegation.  This probe is part of complaints in the spring by former FSU student in the handling of sexual assault cases by Florida State University.  Read more about this here.
