The stadium that has been known as Fifth/Third Ballpark in Comstock Park, Michigan will have a new name for the 2021 season.

The West Michigan Whitecaps announced on Tuesday that the stadium they've called home since 1994 will change over to LMCU Ballpark in conjunction with a new 10-year agreement with Lake Michigan Credit Union.

They join their neighbors to the east, the Lansing Lugnuts, as teams who have changed stadium names this offseason.  The Lugnuts changed their stadium name from Cooley Law School Stadium to Jackson Field back in September.

Both the Whitecaps and the Lugnuts have been moved up to Advanced-A in the Midwest League for the 2021 season.  The Whitecaps will remain a Detroit Tigers affiliate, while the Lugnuts have moved to an Oakland A's affiliate.

There was no 2020 season for minor league baseball because of the continuing coronavirus pandemic.
