The Washington Football Team has released former 1st round draft pick, quarterback Dwayne Haskins (pictured), after less than two seasons with the club.

Here's the official tweet:

Haskins, who was drafted with the 15th pick in the first round in 2019 out of Ohio State, was benched after throwing two interceptions on Sunday in the team's 20-13 loss to the Carolina Panthers.

Haskins fell out of favor with head coach Ron Rivera, and was fined $40,000 for not following COVID-19 protocols.

Washington will play the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday night in Philly.  A win puts them in the playoffs as NFC East champions, where they would play Tampa Bay in the Wild Card round of the playoffs.
