Puma Celebrates Pistons Legacy With The Palace Guard Shoe
Puma is paying tribute to the back-to-back champion, Detroit Pistons with their new Palace Guard OG shoe.
I figured it wouldn't take long for the Detroit influence to sneak in when Puma announced their partnership with Big Sean, but this is better than I ever expected. The Palace Guard OG is a throwback to Isiah Thomas, when he and Dumars were the best guard combo in the NBA.
The description on the Puma website talks about the inspiration for the redesigned classic.
Among the many hidden Basketball gems in the PUMA Hoops archive the Palace Guard is one of the most exciting. Originally worn by the former Detroit Pistons point guard, NBA Hall of Famer and 12-time All-Star, the Palace Guard helped Isiah Thomas secure back-to-back championships in 1989 and 1990.
The shoe is supposed to drop on March 8th according to Twitter, but the website already lists it as sold out. You can order it from New Zealand for about double the price, but who knows if you'll actually get it.
Big Sean is part of the announcement on Twitter of the Uproar Palace Guard shoes, that are a modernized version of the OG.
Sneakerheads will be circling like sharks to get their hands on the new release when it becomes available on the 8th.
Even though I probably won't get my hands on a pair, kudos to Puma for honoring one of the games greatest!
