The Detroit Tigers lost to the Pittsburgh Pirates tonight, 11-6. Tigers took the lead early in the 1st after a line drive single off the bat of Miguel Cabrera scored Rajai Davis. Things started to look bad for the Tigers in the 1st after starting pitcher Justin Verlander loaded the bases. Starling Marte hit a line drive triple to empty the bases. Travis Snider got to first after a fielding error which scored Marte. Jayson Nix took the plate and hit a line drive single, bringing home Snider. Things went from bad to worse in the 2nd, starting with a sacrifice fly from Russel Martin, which scored a run from Gregory Polanco, and Snider hit a 2 run homer to give the Pirates a 7 run lead at the end of the 2nd. Detroit started to come back to life in the 6th after Torii Hunter hit a line drive single, scoring Cabrera. A line drive single hit by Alex Avila brought home Victor Martinez. A ground out off the bat of Don Kelly scored Hunter to cut the Pirates' lead by 4. Pittsburgh fought back in the 6th with 2 home runs hit by Martin and Ike Davis. In the 8th, Davis hit a fly double, scoring 2 runs. Snider hit another homer in the 8th inning to give the Pirates a 5 run lead going into the 9th.
