A Michigan community was honored Thursday after the Detroit Lions made a pitstop to deliver a game-winning ball to this school district.

The City Of Oxford Honored With Game-Winning Ball

Bill Keenist, the Detroit Lion's vice president of communications, stopped by the school district and met with Tony DeMare, the school district's athletic director.

Oxford got a special gift from the Detroit-based team, from a much-kept promise from head coach Dan Campell.

If you missed the original promise, see the video here.

The district received a package with the ball from the Detroit Lion's first win in the 2021 season.

“Anytime people follow through on their commitment, it shows authenticity. It shows that they’re genuine,” DeMare said in a comment to the Oxford Wildcats.

The Lions received their first win against the Minnesota Vikings back in December. The team decided to dedicate their first win to the community of Oxford, after the tragic shooting that killed four teenagers and others injured.

Lions Wide Reciever Amon-Ra St. Brown Discusses What Winning Ball Means

St. Brown, the Detroit Lions wide receiver talked about what this game wining ball meant to him, and what he hoped the message would mean to the community.

"I hope it represents to them just to never quit and that fight because I feel like with that shooting that went down, I feel like a lot of students could maybe become hopeless or lose motivation," St. Brown had said to ESPN. "For us, that game would literally describe what they're going through. We were [0-10-1] and figured out a way to win. A lot of people thought we were going to go winless all season, so we figured out a way to win at the end, and for me, it was a message to them to never quit.

You Think This Year's Team Is Bad? These Past Detroit Lions Teams Didn't Do Too Hot Either

Ah, our good old Lions. Most Michiganders know only the love-hate relationship that we share with the team. I mean, how could you not love the hapless Lions? They're our home team. With that being said though, they've had a win-less season before, which stings. Check out some not-so-good past years for the Detroit Lions.

Every Detroit Lions Quarterback Since 1960

There have been 40 Detroit Lions quarterbacks in the past 60 years, and not one of them has taken us to a Super Bowl.
