Detroit Lions Give Contract Extensions To Holmes, Campbell, and Spielman

The Detroit Lions announced on Thursday that they have given contract extensions to team executives Brad Holmes and Chris Spielman, as well as head coach Dan Campbell.

The deals are through the 2027 season.  Both Holmes (pictured above) and Campbell joined the Lions in early 2021.

Lions owner Sheila Ford Hamp said this about Thursday's announcement:

"We are thrilled to have Brad and Dan under contract for the next four seasons, they have been the driving force behind the rebuild of our football team and the success that we have enjoyed. The continuity they provide for our football program will continue to be the key to our future success on the field."

The Lions are coming off their most successful season in over 30 years.  They won their first NFC North Division title ever with a 12-5 record in 2023.  And they advanced to the NFC Championship Game where they lost to the San Francisco 49ers, 34-31.

Holmes had two years remaining on his original five-year contract with the Lions.  Campbell had three years left on his original six-year deal with the team.

Chris Spielman re-joined the Lions in 2021 after a successful broadcasting career at ESPN and Fox Sports.  He was drafted by the Lions in 1988 after an All-American career at Ohio State.  And he was with the team through the 1995 season.  He finished his career with the Buffalo Bills and the Cleveland Browns from 1996-1999.

Team executive Rod Wood said this about the extension given to Spielman, Holmes, and Campbell:

"I could not be more proud of the work that Brad, Dan and Chris have done for our organization, they have selflessly worked together to build a winning culture within the Lions. I am excited to continue working with them to create the sustained success that we envision for the team, our fans, and the city of Detroit."
