Michigan State rolled to two easy victories in tune-up exhibition games over Northern Michigan and Ferris State  over the last couple of days. Unfortunately, they lose a key contributor in the short term with forward Gavin Schilling out for the season opener against Florida Atlantic with a toe injury.

"Turf toe is one that can linger for weeks," Izzo said. "It's not just a little bump."

Izzo also said that Schilling will undergo X-Rays once the swelling goes down and the team will get a more clear picture of his status this weekend.

Schilling performed well in the two exhibition games, scoring 10 and collecting five rebounds against Northern in 11 minutes and 12 points in 13 minutes against Ferris State when he injured his toe late in the game. He also had five boards against the Bulldogs.

Freshman Deyonta Davis looks to be the next man up in this situation for however long Schilling remains sidelined.
