Michigan Drivers Have the option of Digital License Plates
I got my driver's license for the first time when I was sixteen years old. The following year I purchased my very first car.
It was a 1967 Ford Mustang and it only cost me $700 dollars out of pocket. I saved all my money from a local job in Lansing, basically enough to pay cash for my first car.
All of this took place back in the early '70s, which seems like a long time ago. At that time, my car was all set with current registration, car insurance, and a brand new license plate to attach to the rear of the vehicle.
Let's fast forward to 2022. How would you feel about having a digital license plate on your vehicle? It's all set to go, Michigan drivers now have that option.
According to mlive.com:
“Drivers deserve a modern licensing solution that works for the way we live today. We are beyond excited to make digital license plates available to all drivers in Michigan,” said Neville Boston, Reviver co-founder and chief strategy officer.
This is going to be very exciting for many Michigan drivers. I always find it somewhat difficult when it comes to keeping up with new technology, but when you see new and innovative ways of doing things a little differently, why not give it a try.
So how do these digital license plates work? This is what mlive.com tells us:
The digital license plates come with a smartphone app that includes the ability to switch the plate’s display between a light and dark mode, personalize a banner message on the plate, receive alerts if the vehicle is moving and report the vehicle stolen.
You want to know what's really cool about the new digital license plates? You can locate your own vehicle with the app and you can even renew your registration.
