During a spring training game Thursday against the Miami Marlins on Thursday, New York Mets shortstop Luis Guillorme made the play of the day without even being in the game.

When Miami's Adeiny Hechavarria swung and missed at a pitch, the bat slipped out of his hands and went flying toward the Mets' dugout. Guillorme caught the bat bare-handed as casually as he would a bottle of Gatorade after the game ended.

You never saw Ozzie Smith do that, did you?

The word on Guillorme is that he's good with his glove, but this proves he's also pretty good with the bat. And come to think about it, he's pretty darned good without a glove, too. Guillorme didn't advance past Class A last year and even though he's one of the Mets' top 20 prospects you probably won't see him with the big league club this year.

Unless, of course, he continues to make bare-handed plays like this in the field.
