Haslett and DeWitt remain the cream of the crop in the Mid-Michigan area in girls basketball as we get close to the halfway point of the season.  They are the only unbeaten teams in the area, as both are 8-0.

You may remember that I had DeWitt number 1 last week with Haslett 2nd.  With Haslett winning twice and DeWitt idle, I rewarded the lady Vikings by moving them into the top spot this week.

And DeWitt and Haslett play each other next Tuesday night at Haslett HS.  What a ballgame that should be.

Only two other teams have one loss at this point.  CMAC leader Dansville is 7-1 and GLAC co-leader Lakewood is 6-1.

There are plenty of quality two-loss teams out there, too.  Holt (7-2), Portland (7-2), and Ovid-Elsie (7-2) are among them.

The most stunning result was Lansing Christian rallying from a 44-34 deficit with less than a minute remaining to beat Olivet 45-44 last Friday night.  Because of that result, it's a four-team race in the GLAC right now.

The best win of the week belongs to Haslett.  As they used a big 4th quarter to beat Holt on the road, 52-41 last Tuesday night.

Having said all of that, here's this week's top 10 poll for girls basketball in the area:

Lansing-Area Girls Basketball Top 10 Poll (As of January 10th)

Some really good games this week.  On Tuesday, Portland is at Haslett.  Lansing Catholic at Portland St. Patrick, and Stockbridge is at Olivet.

On Wednesday, Portland St. Patrick is at Dansville and Laingsburg is at Bath.

On Friday, Olivet is at Fowler, Laingsburg is at Dansville, and Portland St. Patrick is at Potterville.

And on Saturday, Portland visits Holt and Lansing Christian is at Potterville.

That's a pretty good list of games.  You need to get out there and watch some of these outstanding teams!
