According to the Detroit Free Press, former Michigan State University alum, Mark Rieth, has purchased the majority stake in Lansing Brewing Company. The announcement was made on Tuesday, February 20th via a news release.

Lansing Brewing Company Has a New Majority Owner

You might be asking yourself what's so interesting about this to necessitate a news release? That's because Mark Rieth is the former owner and president of Detroit's Atwater Brewery, which, at the time of the sale of Atwater to Molson Coors, "was the fourth largest brewer in Michigan."

Currently, Rieth owns Detroit Liquid Ventures,

"a full-service beverage company" that is "committed to high-quality craft beer, spirits, (ready-to-drink) cocktails, ciders, wines and non-alcoholic beverages."

However, Rieth considers this to be his come back to the beer industry.

What Changes are Coming to Lansing Brewing Company?

Michigan has a large and rich beer making history, so it will be very interesting to see what kind of changes might be on the horizon for Lansing Brewing Company (LBC) and this team up with someone so experienced in the beer making industry.

No terms of the deal have been disclosed, but it's fair to say that we could see an expansion of LBC. Rieth said, "We'll be elevating things, bringing their products statewide and beyond." No time line has been set on this, but keep your eye out.
