Halloween is alive and well in Michigan. Kids will be trick or treating soon and you'll be handing out the candy. Trunk or treat events are a fun and safe alternative to regular trick or treating. Michigan's trunk or treating starts this week in Mid-Michigan.

We look forward to handing out tons of candy this Halloween. I've participated in trunk or treat events and it's a lot of fun to see the ghouls, goblins, superheroes and all of the creative costumes. A trunk or treat event is a great way to see all of these happy kids enjoying Halloween.

What is trunk or treating?

Trunk or treat has grown in popularity and continues to do so. Good Housekeeping defines it for those that don't understand the concept:

The idea is simple: Participants go and bring their cars to central location, usually a parking lot (for obvious reasons). The drivers and their families decorate their cars for Halloween, sometimes creating elaborate scenes out of their trunks. Then kids walk from vehicle to vehicle, collecting candy the way they would during a normal trick-or-treating outing.
