The Michigan State Spartans Women's Basketball Team kept it close for most of the game but in the end the third ranked Notre Dame Fighting Irish pulled away for a 71-63 victory Wednesday night at Breslin Center. Mchigan State (1-1) ranked 15th in the country, led 30-29 at the half and traded baskets with the Irish well into the second half forcing 10 ties and eight lead changes. However, 16 turnovers and 13 missed free throws, 10 in the second half, doomed the Spartans chances for an upset. Michigan State had two 10 point scorers with Aerial Powers leading the way with 27 points and Tori Jankoska scored 20. Jasmine Hines pulled down 15 rebounds and Powers also added 11 more. Notre Dame's Jewell Loyd led all scorers with 28. Michigan State will play again on Sunday afternoon with they host IUPUI. Pregame coverage begins at 1:45pm on Lansing's Big Talker 1240 WJIM.
