You better be sitting down. The Miami Marlins outfielder Giancarlo Stanton signed a 13-year $325 million contract on Monday. He is now the highest paid athlete in pro team sports in America.

You remember Stanton was smashed in the face by a Mike Fiens tailing fastball. This terrible mishap happened on September 11, this past season. Stanton has not played since. My point being, is this can he live up and healthy enough to live up to this contract?

In this day and age nothing in the sports world surprises me, especially high priced salaries. The Marlins don't usually give these kind of contracts out. Now, their at the top of the list of all MLB,NBA,NFL,NHL players. Giancarlo Stanton is a great player without an MVP Award and a World Series ring. This is pretty intense.

How can this guy, who like I said is a great young player but is coming off a terrible injury get this kind of contract? The Marlins are a strange franchise. They have a new ballpark with no parking, fired manager Ozzie Guillen after his pro- Castro comments and traded half their team away two years ago. We will see if Giancarlo Stanton lives up to this enormous contract. But, he is a great player!
