1. Tigers Win Labor Day Game vs Indians

The Detroit Tigers played in Cleveland yesterday to start a 4 game series against the Indians winning 12-1.  Corey Kluber was bounced out of the game after pitching only 2 and 2/3 after giving up 5 runs on 7 hits with 2 walks and 2 strikeouts.  David Price pitched for the Tigers, pitching much better than his last outing against the Yankees, going 7 innings giving up 8 hits, 1 run with 8 strikeouts.  Miguel Cabrera hit his first home run in 27 games, since August 2nd, and hit his first multiple home run game of the season and went 4-5.  The Tigers got 20 hits throughout the game with almost every starter getting a hit.  The Tigers will send Kyle Lobstein as the Indians will send Carlos Carrasco at 7:05 pm.

2. Michigan State Beats Jacksonville State

Michigan State started their college football season on Friday beating Jacksonville State 45-7.  Most of the starters were pulled after the first half but were still able to put up some big numbers.  Connor Cook went 12-13 throwing for 285 yards and 3 touchdowns.  Michigan State defense got 3 interceptions and 5 sacks.  Michigan State will play at Oregon at 6:30 pm.  ESPN College Gameday will be at the game as well.

3. Astro's Fire Manager With A Month Left In The Season

The Houston Astro's fired their manager yesterday with about a month left in the season.  Bo Porter went 110-190 in 2 season as the Astro's skipper.  Tom Lawless will take over as interm manager for the remainder of the season.  Read the statements from General Manager Jeff Luhnow here.

4. Bryce Petty Injured In First Game For Baylor

In Baylor's 45-0 win over SMU quarterback quarterback Bryce Petty has injured his back and was pulled from the game.  After the game they are saying it is not serious as he has two cracked transverse processes which will require no treatment but will have to manage the pain.  Read more about the injury here.

5. Royals Top Texas Keep Half Game Lead In Central

The Kansas City Royals beat the Texas Rangers 4-3 last night.  Colby Lewis pitched for Texas going 7 innings and taking the loss.  Yorando Ventura allowed 3 runs, 2 earned with 5 hits in 6 1/3 innings.  The Royals take on the Rangers tonight as Derek Holland pitches for Texas and Jeremy Guthrie goes for the Royals.
