1. Falcons Thrash Buccaneers On Thursday Night Football

On Thursday Night Football, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers traveled to Atlanta to take on the Falcons.  The result was not as favorable as they got demolished 56-14.  The star of the night was Devin Hester as he returned his 20th touchdown on a punt or kickoff setting the new record in the NFL.  Hester also had 25 yards receiving and a 20 yard rushing touchdown.  Matt Ryan went 21/24 for 286 yards with 3 touchdowns.  His main target was Julio Jones who had 9 catches with 161 yards and 2 touchdowns.  The Buccaneers quarterback, Mike Glennon went 17-24 for 121 touchdowns and 1 touchdown.

2. Auburn Squeeks By Kansas State

Last night, the Auburn Tigers traveled to Manhattan, KS to take on the Kansas State Wildcats.  Auburn inched out a win topping the Wildcats 20-14.  Kansas State had opportunities to take control of this game, especially late in the game.  Quarterback Jack Waters of Kansas State went 24/40 for 245 yards and two interceptions.  Auburn's Nick Marshal went 17/31 for 231 yards and had 10 rushes for 46 yards.  Kansas State kicker had a bad game after missing 3 field goals from various distances.

3. Tigers Square Off Against Royals

With a half game lead over the Royals, the Tigers travel to Kansas City to face off against the Royals.  The Tigers dropped the last two games of their series against the Twins in Minnesota.  This is the last home stand for the Royals during the regular season.  Tonight's starters will be Justin Verlander and will square off against Jason Vargas.  All three games will be nationally televised.

4. Jonathan Dwyer Cannot Come Back

According to head coach Bruce Arians, Jonathan Dwyer is not allowed to play for the Arizona Cardinals unless he is exonerated from the charges.  Jonathan Dwyer is being charged with assault stemming from a domestic violence incident involving his wife and young son.  Dwyer was placed on the reserve/non-football injury list which means he cannot come back to the team for the remainder of the year.  If released, he will be able to sign as a free agent with any other team.

5. Significant Playoff Pushes This Weekend

As the end of the season nears and playoff pushes are in full swing, there are a few matchups that will take the headlines this weekend.  First being the Detroit Tigers and the Kansas City Royals battling this weekend with the AL Central lead being at stake.  Kansas City is also right in the thick of the Wild Card game with Oakland and Seattle.  In the NL, the Dodgers and Giants have weekend series against other opponents but will square off at Dodger Stadium.  San Francisco and Pittsburgh currently lead the wild card in the NL.
