1. Tigers Bats Go Cold, Swept By Baltimore

In game 3 of the ALDS, the Detroit Tigers were facing elimination at Comerica Park.  David Price took the mound against Bud Norris.  Both pitchers were scoreless through 5 innings when Nelson Cruz hit a 2 run home run.  Those two runs proved to be the difference as Baltimore won 2-1.  The lone run for the Tigers came off of a J.D. Martinez double in the top of the 9th innings.  David Price pitched 8 innings giving up 2 runs on 5 hits with 6 strikeouts.  Joe Nathan also came in to pitch a scoreless 9th inning.  For Baltimore Bud Norris went 6 1/3 innings giving up 2 hits with 6 strikeouts.  Zach Britton picked up the save giving up the lone run in the 9th inning.

2. Detroit Kicking Woes Continue, Lose To Bills

Jim Schwartz returned to Ford Field as the Detroit Lions hosted the Buffalo Bills.  The Detroit Lions offense and kicking game struggled and the led to the Lions loss to the Bills 17-14.  After jumping out to a 14-0 lead in the second quarter, the Detroit Lions could not score for the remainder of the game.  Matt Stafford went 18/31 for 221 yards and 1 touchdown and 1 interception. George Winn, a practice team call up from metro-Detroit, lead the team in rushing. New kicker Alex Henery went 0/3 on field goals including a 50 yard miss with :26 second left in the game.  The Detroit Lions next game will be in Minnesota facing the Vikings at 1:00 pm.

3. Michigan State Hung On To Beat Nebraska

On Saturday night, the Michigan State Spartans topped Nebraska 27-22.  The Spartans had a 27-3 lead heading into the 4th quarter but 19 unanswered points by Nebraska made the game close.  But in the end, an interception at the end of the game sealed the victory for Michigan State. Connor Cook did not have a great day going 11/29 for 234 yards with 1 touchdown and 1 interception.  Jeremy Langford had 111 yards on 29 carries with 1 touchdown.  Michigan State will take on Purdue next week at Purdue.  Kickoff is scheduled for 3:30.

4. Michigan Drops Game In New Jersey

In Piscataway, New Jersey, the Michigan Wolverines traveled to the birth place of college football to play the Rutgers Scarlett Knights.  Michigan had two leads in the beginning of the game but Rutgers answered both of those scores with scores of their own losing 26-24.  The defenses came to play in the 2nd half as both teams were held to 14 points total.  Rutgers quarterback Gary Nova went 22/39 for 404 yards with 3 touchdowns.  Michigan's Devin Gardner went 13/28 for 178 yards he did have 40 yards on the ground.  Michigan's next game is against Penn State in Ann Arbor.

5. Kansas City Royals Move On

The Kansas City Royals have swept the Angels in the ALDS.  The Royals won games one and two in extra innings and won game three 8-3.  James Shields went went 6 innings giving up 6 hits and 2 runs with 6 strikeouts.  The Angels pitched by committee after C.J. Wilson started the game only going 2/3 of an inning giving up 3 runs.  The Royals piled the runs on early scoring 7 runs by the end of the 4th inning.  Kansas City will face off against the Baltimore Orioles starting on Friday.
