1. Orioles Use Big 8th Inning To Put Away The Tigers

Last night in Baltimore, Max Scherzer and the Tigers took on Chris Tillman and the Orioles in game 1 of the ALDS.  The Tigers and Orioles went back and forth through the first 7 innings of the game with Baltimore have a 4-2 advantage.  But, the 8th inning came along and Baltimore took off scoring 8 runs to pull a head 12-3.  Max Scherzer pitched 7 1/3 innings giving up 5 runs on 7 hits with 6 strikeouts.  The Tigers bullpen did not play well going 2/3 of an innings giving up 6 earned runs 7 runs on 5 hits.  Chris Tillman got the win going 5 innings giving up 2 runs and 4 hits on 6 strikeouts.  This afternoon, the Tigers and Orioles will play game two at 12:07 pm.  Justin Verlander will take the mound this afternoon for the Tigers and Wei-Yin Chen will take the mound of Baltimore.

2. Kansas City Wins In Extras

After playing 12 innings in the AL Wild Card game, the Kansas City Royals took on the Angels.  This game also went into extra innings as Kansas City used a 1 run home run to top the Angels in 11 innings winning 3-2.  Mike Moustakas hit the solo home run in the 11th inning which propelled the Royals to the win.  Jared Weaver 7 innings giving up 2 runs on 3 hits with 6 strikeouts.  For the Royals, Jason Vargas went 6 innings giving up 2 runs on 3 hits with 2 strikeouts. Game 2 will be tonight at 9:30.

3. Oregon Goes Down

In Eugene, the Oregon Ducks faced Pac-12 opponent Arizona looking for revenge from last years loss.  Both teams got off to a slow start as the score at halftime was 7-3.  But, both teams hurried up the offense as Arizona scored 21 points in the 3rd quarter. In the 4th quarter Oregon tied the game up at 24 with 8:21 left in the game.  Arizona marched down the field and scored on a 1 yard touchdown run with 2:54 left in the game.  Oregon could not score at the end of the game which completed the upset of the number 2 overall team in the country winning 31-24.

4. Green Bay Packers Rolls Over Minnesota Vikings

After beating the Chicago Bears last week, the Green Bay Packers took on the Minnesota Vikings in Green Bay.  The Packers got off to a fast start scoring 28 points in the first half while the Vikings could not get anything going on offense.  The Packers offense rolled into the 3rd quarter scoring two more touchdowns.  By the end of the game, the Packers won 42-14 improving 3-2 on the season.

5. Judge Says No Bullets In Hernandez Case

In the Aaron Hernandez case in Massachusetts, the Judge has thrown out the bullets in the case.  Also a magazine found in his car was thrown out.  Both items were thrown out because the judge believed that the police did not demonstrate probable cause for the searches of his car and a rented apartment in his name.
