1. Detroit Lions Top New Orleans In Thriller

The Detroit Lions hosted the New Orleans Saints and found themselves down by 13 points late in the fourth quarter.  But, they fought back and won 24-23 thanks to a Golden Tate 73 yard touchdown and a Corey Fuller 5 yard touchdown.  Matt Stafford went 27/40 for 299 yards and 2 touchdowns and 2 interceptions.  His main receiver was Golden Tate who had 10 catches for 154 yards and 1 touchdown.  The Lions leading rusher was Joique Bell who had 48 yards and 1 touchdown.  Drew Brees had a good game going 28/45 for 342 yards and 2 touchdowns but his 1 interception late proved to be costly.  With the win, the Lions improve to 5-2.  The Lions play the Atlanta Falcons in London at 9:30 am Eastern.

2. Michigan State Topples Indiana

The Spartans traveled to Bloomington to take on the Indiana Hoosiers.  Behind the play of Connor Cook, Jeremy Langford and Nick Hill, the Spartans won 56-17.  Connor Cook went 24/32 with 332 yards with 3 touchdowns and 1 interception.  Michigan State's rushing attack was lead by Jeremy Langford and Nick Hill both rushing for over 100 yards.  Nick Hill lead all rushing with 178 yards while Langford was not far behind going 109 yards with 3 touchdowns.  Michigan State will host in-state rival Michigan Saturday with the kickoff slated for 3:30 pm.

3. Red Wings Off To Hot Start

The Detroit Red Wings are off to a hot start as they topped the Toronto Maples Leafs in both games of the home-and-home series.  In the second game at Joe Louis Arena the Red Wings blanked the Maples Leafs winning 1-0 winning in overtime.  Jonas Gustavsson stood on his head as he stopped all the shots he faced, 30 shots.  The Red Wings will play at Montreal on Tuesday before hosting Pittsburgh on Thursday.

4. Peyton Manning Breaks Record

Last night on Sunday Night Football, Peyton Manning broke Brett Favre's touchdown record throwing his 509th touchdown which gave the Bronco's a 21-3 lead over the 49ers.  Read about Peyton Manning's comments and his teammates comments here.

5. NCAA Football Polls Are Out

The new USA Today and AP Polls are out and there is some discretion between the two polls.  The top 4 are identical but spots 5-8 have a little mix up.  In the USA Today Poll Michigan State is 5, Auburn is 6, Oregon is 7 and Notre Dame is 8.  In the AP Poll, Auburn is 5, Oregon is 6, Notre Dame is 7 and Michigan State is 8.  Check out both polls here and see who is ranked in the top 25 for the coming week.
