1. Detroit Red Wings Beat Buffalo On Dominik Hasek Night

Last night in Buffalo, the Red Wings got back on track beating the Sabres 3-1 winning 4 of the last 6 games.  Darren Helm got the scoring started as he scored a first period goal, shorthanded.  After that, the Red Wings got a powerplay goal from Gustav Nyquist and another goal from Tomas Tartar.  Petr Mrazek was in net for the injured Jimmy Howard and played well stopping 25/26 shots.  The Red Wings next game will be tomorrow as they go to St. Louis as they take on the Blues.

2. Michigan No Match For Ohio State

Last night in Columbus, the Michigan Wolverines fell to the Ohio State Buckeyes 71-52.  Ohio State was up 15 points and halftime and never looked back shooting nearly 50% from the field.  Caris LeVert lead Michigan with 14 points and was one of two starters in double figures.  Michigan only shot 33.9% and 23% from behind the arc.  D'Angelo Russell lead all scorers with 21 points shooting 6/12 from the field.  The next game for Michigan will be on Saturday as they host the Northwestern Wildcats.

3. Duke Falls At Home

In other college basketball action, the Duke Blue Devils fell at home against the Miami Hurricanes 90-74. This is the 2nd straight loss for Duke after they lost at N.C. State over the weekend.  Duke, who is ranked 4th in the new college basketball poll, could not convert from the free throw line shooting 10-20.  Angel Rodriguez of Miami scored 24 points leading the game in scoring.  Off the bench for Miami was Manu Lecomte who scored 23 points.  For Duke Jahlil Okafor scored 15 points and grabbed 15 rebounds getting a double-double.  Quinn Cook lead all Duke players with 18 points.

4. Jets Hire New Head Coach

Hours after hiring a new GM, the New York Jets found their head coach.  New GM, Mike Maccagnan and new coach Todd Bowles will work and report under owner Woody Johnson.  Bowles was the defensive coordinator for the Arizona Cardinals.  The Jets signed Bowles swiftly after reports showed he was interested in the Atlanta Falcons job opening.  Bowles will be finalizing the deal today when he arrives in New York.

5. Cowboys Sign Jason Garrett To 5 Year Deal

After ending the season with a loss to the Green Bay Packers, the Cowboys top priority was to sign Jason Garrett.  The Cowboys got their wish as Garrett has agreed to a 5 year deal.  Garrett took over after a 1-7 start in 2010.  The Cowboys finished 8-8 in the first three years under Garrett but helped lead the Cowboys to the first 12 win season since 2009.  Read more about Garrett and the Cowboys plans for this offseason here.
