1. Harbaugh And The 49ers Part Ways

Yesterday, after the San Francisco 49ers beat the Arizona Cardinals 20-17, Jim Harbaugh and San Francisco 49ers parted ways.  Both sides agreed to part ways with one year remaining on his five-year $25 million contract which he signed in 2011.  According to media reports Harbaugh has asked assistants and has been gauging interest to see if they would come with him.  Harbaugh went 44-19-1 in 4 seasons with the 49ers and 49-22-1 including playoffs.

2. Detroit Falls To Green Bay

Yesterday in Green Bay, the Detroit Lions fell to the Green Bay Packers 30-20.  With the win, the Green Bay Packers won the NFC North and earned a first round bye in the playoffs. Aaron Rogers played through a nagging calf injury still accounting for 3 touchdowns, 2 passing and 1 rushing, and threw for 226 yards.  Matt Stafford went 20/41 for 217 yards while throwing 3 touchdowns, 2 to Calvin Johnson.  With the loss, the Lions will have to travel to Dallas in the first game of the playoffs.  The Lions have faced the Cowboys in the playoffs twice before holding a 1-1 record with the last meeting being in 1991.

3. Pistons Crush Cav's In Cleveland

Yesterday, the Detroit Pistons defeated the Cavaliers in Cleveland 103-80.  The Pistons fell behind early but scored 33 points in the 2nd quarter followed by 53 points in the 2nd half.  Brandon Jennings was on fire for the Pistons scoring 25 points going 10/18 and 5/9 from behind the arc.  Andre Drummond had himself another double-double scoring 16 points while grabbing 17 rebounds.  Kevin Love and Tristan Thompson lead the scoring scoring 20 and 18 respectively.  They both also had 10+ rebounds giving them a double-double. In 32 minuets of play, LeBron James also grabbed 10 rebounds while scoring 17 points.  Kyrie Irving was inactive.  The Pistons next game will be tomorrow night in Orlando against the Magic.

4. Rex Ryan To Be Fired As Jets Head Coach

The New York Jets head coach Rex Ryan is set to be fired as soon as Monday.  General Manager John Idzik will likely be fired as well.  The New York Jets struggled this season going 4-12 using multiple quarterbacks throughout the season.  In reports, Rex Ryan had cleaned out his office before the game on Sunday.  Ryan's current record is 45-50 with the team going 4-2 in the playoffs.

5. Bowl Season Is Upon Us

This past weekend, we had a handful of bowl games a few involving Big Ten teams.  On Friday, Illinois was the first Big Ten team to play in a bowl in the Zaxby's Heart of Dallas Bowl when they fell to Louisiana Tech falling 35-18.  Rutgers took on North Carolina in the Quick Lane Bowl in Detroit and came out victorious winning 40-21.  On Saturday, the Penn State took on Boston College in the New Era Pinstripe Bowl with Penn State won in overtime 31-30.  The latest Big Ten team to play was Nebraska, with an interim coach, as they took on USC in the National University Holiday Bowl.  Check out all the other bowl games here.
