1. Tigers Take Game 2 Over The Rays

A dazzling pitching performance by Rick Porcello tied with a huge offensive night from Victor Martinez gives the Tigers a two game win streak.  The Tigers beat the Rays 6-0 last night.  Victor Martinez went 2-3 with 5 of the teams 6 RBI's including a grand slam in the 7th inning.  Rick Porcello had a complete game shutout giving up 3 hits with 4 strikeouts.  This is Rick Porcello's third complete this year.    Tigers play today at 1:00 pm as David Price (12-8) will take the mound against Alex Cobb (8-6).

2. Cleveland Names Brian Hoyer As Starter

Former Michigan State quarterback Brian Hoyer has been named the starter for the Cleveland Browns this upcoming season.  The coach was cited as saying Hoyer's leadership qualities were part of the reason why he was named starter.  Hoyer got the starting job last season but had a season ending injury that forced him to give up his spot as the starter.

3. Mo'ne Davis Loses Her First Game

In the Little League World Series, Mo'ne Davis and the team from Philadelphia took on the team from Las Vegas.  This outing was not like Davis's first two games when she pitched two full games giving up 0 runs.  She gave up 3 runs in 2 1/3rd innings before being pulled because of pitch count.  Because she did not hit the threshold, she will be able to pitch in Saturday's game.  Their team lost 8-1 and will play Illinois for a chance to play in the USA title game against Nevada.

4. Team USA Plays In FIBA Tuneup

Team USA played the Dominican Republic last night in Madison Square Garden.  The game was not close as Team USA wins by 43 points 105-62.  The starters played in limited playing time to ensure they do not get injured.  Derrick Rose did not play in the game.  Andre Drummond scored 12 points for team USA.  Team USA leaves for Spain this Saturday.

5. Royals Lose It Late

The Royals took on Colorado in a two game series.  With a grand slam in the 6th, the Rockies took the lead and held it wining 5-2.  Jorge De La Rosa got the win pitching 8 innings with 3 strikeouts.  With the loss, the Royals lead in the AL Central is down to 1 game over the Tigers.  They are off today and go to Texas for a weekend series.
