1. Detroit Tigers Land David Price At The Deadline

With about 10 minutes to go at the trade deadline, the Tigers acquired David Price in a three-team trade which involved the Mariners and the Rays.  The trade included Austin Jackson to Seattle, Drew Smyly and prospect Willy Adames and Seattle's Nick Franklin all go to the Rays.  Jackson was pulled during the 7th inning as Rajai Davis replaced him in the outfield in yesterdays game, which completed the trade.  Drew Smyly was pulled earlier after completing the 5th inning.  David Price, 28, has been on fire as of late winning 6 straight hosting a 1.31 ERA.  It is reported he will wear Austin Jackson's number 14.

2. Trade Deadline Didn't Disappoint

With less than one day left in the MLB non-waiver trade deadline, there were a handful of trades and bolstered some teams pitching staff as they look towards October.  Some of the trades include Jon Lester and Jonny Gomes to Oakland for Yoenis Cespedes to Boston.  Cardinals get John Lackey and Corey Littrel and send Allen Craig and Joe Kelly to the Red Sox.  Twins get Tommy Milone from Oakland for Sam Fuld.  Read the rest of the deadline trades here.

3. Tigers Lose 2 of 3 vs White Sox; 5 of 6 Overall

While the Tigers front off was working, the team was working on the field losing 7-4 yesterday afternoon.  The stats do not tell the whole story as Jackson was pulled in the 7th and Smyly was pulled after 5 innings.  Soria got the loss after giving up a bases loaded hit by pitch where Chicago scored the winning run.  Joba Chamberlin gave up 2 runs in 1/3 of an inning.  Phil Coke finished out the game giving up 1 hit.  The Tigers take on the Rockies tonight at Comerica Park for a 3 game series.

4. Lynch To Report Too Training Camp

Marshawn Lynch is expected to finally report to training camp.  The team was able to fine him for missing the first six days.  They also worked on a new deal that would bring him more money and stay in Seattle.  Read more about the holdout here.

5. Coaches Poll Released Thursday

The college football preseason coaches poll was released on Thursday.  With no surprise, Florida State, defending national champions, was voted number one followed by Alabama, Oklahoma, Oregon and Auburn rounds out the top 5.  Michigan State comes in at number 8.  Other Big Ten teams are Ohio State, 6, Wisconsin, 14, Nebraska, 22.  With less than a month away until the first games of the season, practice opens up this weekend for most teams.
