WWE Notes Anniversary of 1992 ‘Superstars’ Taping at Wings Stadium in Kalamazoo
What a night for wrestling fans to have been at Wings Stadium in Kalamazoo as a TV taping of WWE (nee WWF) Superstars featured Ric Flair vs Randy Savage in the main event and Roddy Piper doing a Pipers Pit segment.
Check out this image shared by WWF Old School on Facebook of the flyer for the event.
Two titles were on the line that night. In addition to Savage taking on the World Champ, Ric Flair - one of his 16 world title reigns.
The tag titles were also defended with the interesting pairing (and I don't remember this one) of Sgt. Slaughter and Hacksaw Jim Duggan (Hooooooooooo! - plenty of American flags waving, no doubt) against the Million Dollar Man Ted DiBiase and Mike Rotundo as is Irwin R. Schyster persona.
Rowdy Roddy Piper hosted a Piper's Pit with the Brooklyn Brawler. WWF Old School notes the segment didn't make it to air. But, really, who was the Brawler beefing with to make that segment airworthy?
The undercard is relatively forgettable:
Jim Powers defeated Louie Spicolli
Chris Walker defeated Barry Horowitz
Crush defeated the Brooklyn Brawler
