Justin Abdelkader's game winning goal with 43 seconds to go in overtime lifted the Detroit Red Wings over the Pittsburgh Penguins 4-3 at Joe Louis Arena Thursday night. Detroit (4-1-2) had fallen down 3-1 going late into the third period until Henrik Zetterberg and Niklas Kronwall scored goals two minutes apart, Kronwall's coming with 38 seconds to go in regulation to force the extra period. Pittsburgh (3-3) jumped out to a quick 2-0 lead in the first period on goals by Pascal Dupuis and Olli Maatta. Chris Kunitz scored the third Penguins goal and Thomas Greiss made 27 saves. Kronwall cut the lead in half with his first goal of the game also in the first period and assisted on the Zetterberg goal. Jimmy Howard started in goal for the Red Wings and made 23 saves. Detroit will next travel to Philadelphia to face the Flyers on Saturday night with a puck drop at 7:00pm.
