Brandon Pirri scored the second Florida goal in a shootout and clinched a win for the Panthers over the Detroit Red Wings 3-2 at Joe Louis Arena Friday night. Detroit (17-6-7) who is now 1-5 in shootouts this season, opened the scoring in the first period with Riley Sheahan shot the puck past Florida goalie Roberto Luongo for a 1-0 lead. That lead did not last long as three minutes later as Tomas Fleischmann scored to tie the game then Florida (12-8-7) took the lead when Jonathan Huberdeau found the back of the net for a 2-1. Gustav Nyquist then scored with 36 seconds left in the period for the second tie of the game. Luongo stopped 29 of 31 Detroit shots while Jimmy Howard made 24 saves for the Wings. Detroit now heads to Toronto for the second of a back to back when they face the Maple Leafs for the second time in three games.
