So tonight at 8:00 pm the NL All-Stars will slug it out against the AL All-Stars. This is not as big a game as it used to be. I really feel because of inter league play it's taken away from the luster of this great game. It used to be that the American League and the National League would only play each other in preseason and post season. Now it's much different with how the setup is.

My greatest memory of the MLB All-Star Game is in 1971. My late parents Corky and Ed DeMarco would always take me to Traverse City for a summer vacation. My parents and I watched it from the comforts of our hotel room. That game was special because Reggie Jackson crushed a Dock Ellis fastball that hit the top lights in Tiger Stadium. It was a mammoth shot. So, tonight's All-Star Game will bring back special memories of my youth.
