Five Guys has been a staple of downtown East Lansing for the past dozen years or so. When the nationally renown chain first opened its doors along Grand River Avenue it was a big deal.

That's why it's a big deal now that its doors are closed.

Don't worry, though. Your arteries will only enjoy a temporary reprieve from Five Guys' mouthwatering burgers and generously over-served sides of fries.

If you look up Five Guys on Google, or any of the various other online listings, you'll see that the restaurant has been closed for the last several weeks.

That's right — Five Guys isn't shuttered, it's just taking a break for a facelift. Go ahead. Take a moment to breathe a sigh of relief.

So when can you expect Five Guys to reopen its doors in East Lansing? Common sense dictates that the business surely wouldn't want to miss out on the commercial boon the local economy enjoys when Michigan State students move in. The university officially begins welcoming students back to campus on Sunday, Aug. 27.

But, according to Yelp, Five Guys will be back in business before that. The restaurant's listing there shows it reopening on Saturday, Aug. 12.

By the way, if you're wondering what the remodel consists of, there's a rumor on the Lansing Foodies Facebook group suggesting that Five Guys is adding milkshakes to the menu. So be patient, because in this case it's actually true that good things come to those who wait.
