The Washington Redskins fired their sixth-year head coach, Jay Gruden (pictured), on Monday morning.  This comes one day after the 'Skins lost to the New England Patriots 33-7 at FedEx Field in Maryland.

ESPN reports that former Oakland Raiders and University of Nebraska head coach Bill Callahan will take over on an interim basis for the rest of the season.

Washington is 0-5 this season.  This is the first head coaching firing of the season in the NFL.  Although Gruden's firing had been rumored for weeks.

Jay Gruden is the brother of Oakland Raiders head coach Jon Gruden, Jay has been an assistant in the NFL and also played and coached in the Arena Football League previously.
