So yesterday during Group F play at the Women's World Cup, the United States Women's National Team exploded in the 2nd Half agains Thailand for 10 goals on way to a 13-0 victory.

While securing their first victory in group play the USWNT set some FIFA World Cup records.  According to StatHeads.com, the United States women's national team is the new record holder for most goals scored in a single Women's World Cup match, finishing with 13 goals against Thailand yesterday. The previous record was held by Germany, who scored 11 goals on Argentina in the 2007 Women's World Cup group stage.

Also, Alex Morgan was the highest scorer for the USWNT yesterday, recording 5 goals. She is the second player in Women's World Cup history to score 5 goals in a match, joining Michelle Akers who achieved that feat in the 1991 quarterfinal match against Chinese Taipei.

Here are the most important things to remember about the game:

  • The U.S.A. had beaten Thailand 9-0 in a friendly previously and this was Thailand's first World Cup game
  • Goals scored are the TIE BREAKER when coming out of group play.  Goals are a must
  • Thankfully, no one, on either team, was injured

Usually America celebrates big victories on any world stage of athletic performance.  And for the most part, we still do.  Some people took exception to the win.  And some to the celebration.

I don't want to post any of the "uswnt classless" posts, you can do that on your own.  I will post Julie Foudy on SVP and her opinion.  She has earned the right to say what she believes.

Any men on Twitter criticizing the USWNT need to stop.

And don't forget this.

We have a poll on our "Don't Hassle Us We're Local" show Twitter.

The USWNT plays Chile on Monday.
