There are four franchises in the leauge that also plan to relocate. The other teams rumored to move are Birmingham, Huston and Memphis, with new homes in Florida, Kentucky, Ohio and Idaho. But none of those details have been officially confirmed yet.

What's Causing Detroit To Lose Another Team?

There was a major attendance surge last year, especially for Detroit. According to the UFL News Hub, the main culprit isn't because of fans or attendance. It's the cost of them playing at Ford Field.

Stadium rent and game-day expenses are expensive. If the Panthers aren't turning over a major profit, they're losing out by playing at Ford Field.

Could These Be Just Rumors?

Honestly, yes. The UFL or its teams have yet to make an official statement regarding the rumors that have been swirling around the internet. The Panthers themselves haven't addressed any of the rumors either on their social media accounts.

If the move does happen, it could be a pretty big blow to the Detroit sports scene. The past few seasons, the Panthers had built a solid following in Detroit. Attendance had actually climbed back in 2025. On top of that, the team surged in the conference, even getting Jake Bates picked up by the Detroit Lions in 2024.
