ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski was first to report and the Detroit Pistons have confirmed on Friday afternoon that, according to the Detroit Free Press, the team has interviewed University of Michigan head basketball coach John Beilein for the team's vacant head coaching job.

Beilein led the Michigan Wolverines to the National Championship game this past April, where they lost to Villanova 79-62 at the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas.  He has three years left on his current deal at Michigan.

The Pistons head coaching job has been open since team owner Tom Gores fired head coach Stan Van Gundy about a month ago.
