Michigan State has added another premium football prospect.

On Wednesday, four-star quarterback Messiah DeWeaver, of Wayne High School in Huber Heights, Ohio, verbally committed to the Spartans.

DeWeaver is the top-ranked quarterback in Ohio for the 2016 class, according to several recruiting services. The 6-foot-4, 210-pounder is a great student of the game and a great student, period, plus comes from a great family, Scout.com's Bill Greene tells WVFN.

DeWeaver chose Michigan State over other finalists Penn State, Mississippi State and Louisville. He originally was committed to Michigan but reopened his recruitment after Brady Hoke's firing, and reportedly turned down an offer from Jim Harbaugh.

DeWeaver's commitment comes on the heels of MSU landing a highly touted 2015 recruiting class, which included the No. 1 running back in Ohio, L.J. Scott.
