The Tokyo Olympic Organizing Committee announced on Monday that the postponed 2020 Summer Olympics have been moved to July of next year.

The announcement comes one week after it was announced that the 2020 Summer Games would be postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The new dates for the Olympics are July 23rd-August 8th, 2021.  All athletes who have qualified for this year's Games will be allowed to participate next year.

The Games were postponed after getting pressure from nations like Australia, Canada, and the United States (those nations threatened to not send athletes to Tokyo).

This is the first time that the Olympics have been postponed since 1944.
