There's a new sheriff in town, and his name is Brad Ausmus.

Ausmus takes over managerial duties for the Detroit Tigers. After the Tigers were knocked out of the ALCS by Boston, Jim Leyland retired. Now a vacancy was created for a new manager in Motown.

Brad Ausmus is a Dartmouth grad and played catcher in the majors for years. The Detroit Tigers were one of the many teams Ausmus played for. He has never been a big league manager, but he did manage in the World Games. Brad Ausmus got many ringing endorsements from great baseball people. He has always been regarded as a student of the game.

Now, the Detroit Tigers are at a crossroad. They have been so close to winning a World Series but cannot cut the cake and win it all. Leyland, who was a fine manager, got the Tigers to two World Series but they couldn't close the deal. With players like Verlander, Miggy, Scherzer, and Kinsler they are expected to go far this year. I like their chances because of a fresh new attitude and this team is going to steal more bases this year.
