Just days after the two teams could not finalize a trade, the Detroit Tigers have agreed to send starting pitcher Mike Fiers (pictured) to the Oakland Athletics for two players to be named later or cash, according to media reports on Monday afternoon.

Fiers was signed to a one-year deal before the season by the Tigers after being a part of the World Series champion Houston Astros last year. He was 7-6 for the Tigers this season with a 3.48 earned run average (ERA).

It was reported last week that the Tigers and A's were close a deal before the non-waiver trade deadline (July 31st), but that trade did not materialize.

Fiers, who can be a free agent after next season, joins one of the hottest teams in baseball in Oakland.  The A's have won six straight games (including a weekend sweep of Detroit this past weekend) and are now in the second Wild Card spot in the American League.  They are just four games behind the World Champion Houston Astros for first place in the American League West.
