On deadline day for arbitration-eligible players being tendered offers or not, the Detroit Tigers announced on Friday that they have offered 2019 contracts to six players who are eligible for arbitration this offseason.

They are: pitchers Michael Fulmer, Matt Boyd, Shane Greene, Blaine Hardy, and Daniel Norris, as well as outfielder Nicholas Castellanos.

But the team announced that they did not offer contracts to two others;  catcher James McCann and pitcher Alex Wilson.

In most cases, arbitration-eligible players have accumulated at least three years of Major League service time, but not the necessary six years of service time to become a free agent.

Today's announcement means that the six players tendered will be eligible for arbitration hearings in January (and potentially make more money).  It also means that  McCann and Wilson become complete free agents.

Baseball's Winter Meetings are December 9-13th in Las Vegas, Nevada.
