Less than 48 hours after the team drafted him, the Detroit Tigers signed the fifth overall pick in the Major League Baseball Draft, Riley Greene, to a contract.

Greene, a high school outfielder out of Oviedo, Florida, will get a bonus in excess of $6 million to sign with the team.

By signing with the Tigers, he skips college and will now likely be assigned to either the team's Golf Coast League affiliate in Lakeland, Florida or the team's Short Season-A affiliate in Connecticut.

Greene has committed to playing baseball at the University of Florida before deciding to turn professional.
