Tigers Search For A New Manager Begins
The Detroit Tigers are searching for a new manager with the dismissal of Brad Aumsus and even though the postseason has not started, names are already being linked to the open job.
The Tigers have already reportedly made in-house interviews to both of their base coaches (third base coach Dave Clark and first base coach Omar Vizquel) and have an interview planned with hitting coach Lloyd McClendon.
Gonzalez, 53, has a 710-692 record over a 10 year career with both the Marlins and Braves as the head coach. Gonzalez made two playoff appearances with Atlanta in 2012 and 2013.
The Tigers job will certainly be one of the more attractive options among open positions in the MLB. The Tigers still have young pitchers Michael Fulmer and Daniel Norris under team control, a roster that shed so much salary it can afford to buy some free agents (if Chris Ilitch's vision for the team allows it) and they have the #1 pick in the 2018 MLB Draft.
