Two of the Detroit Tigers' top minor-league prospects, infielder Spencer Torkelson (pictured) and outfielder Riley Greene will represent the Detroit Tigers in the Major League Baseball Futures Game, which is set for Sunday, July 11th at Coors Field in Denver Colorado in advance of the MLB All-Star Game two nights later.

Both Torkelson and Greene are with the Tigers Double-A affiliate, the Erie (PA) Seawolves.  Torkelson started the year with the High-A West Michigan Whitecaps before being promoted.  They are widely considered to be Detroit's top position prospects in the minor leagues.

Greene was Detroit's first-round pick in 2019, while Torkelson was the team's first pick in 2020.  Pitcher Casey Mize was the first overall pick three years ago and is with the Tigers now.

The Tigers (entering Wednesday's games @ Cleveland) are 34-45 and in third place in the American League Central.  Both Riley and Spencer are considered major building blocks of the team's long rebuild.

Mad Dog's Modern Day All-Star Baseball Team

In one way or another, these players have had a special impact on me because of the way they played the great game of baseball.
