The Detroit Tigers scored early and often to beat the Kansas City Royals 9-2 Saturday night at Kauffman Stadium.  Detroit (16-9) scored their fourth straight win and second in a row in the series with the Royals (14-15). Nick Castellanos began the scoring by driving in the first three Tigers runs and Torii Hunter capped the night off with a three run homer in the 8th inning. Drew Smyly (2-1) pitched seven shutout innings for the win while Danny Duffy (1-2) earned the loss. The two teams conclude their series tomorrow in Kansas City. Justin Verlander (3-1) pitches for Detroit and Jason Vargas gets the start for the Royals. Pregame coverage begins at 1:45pm on Lansing's Big Talker 1240 WJIM.
